  3. star in the sky. It has luminosity in
  4. the area of 57,000 times the sun, 
  5. making it one of the most luminous
  6. known stars in the galaxy. Were the 
  7. star the same distance as Sirius (8 
  8. light years, vs. 900 light years), it 
  9. would blaze away at a magnitude of -10!
  10. Rigel is a double star with a 6.7 
  11. magnitude companion easily visible in
  12. a small telescope.
